Women could hold key to SA man's death

Two women could hold the key to the circumstances surrounding the death of an unknown man whose body has been found in Adelaide's River Torrens.

The body was located on Thursday and police believe two women seen talking to a man at the Adelaide Oval footbridge on Tuesday night may be able to assist investigators in their search for answers.

Witnesses have told police the man entered the water from the riverbank near the Festival Theatre shortly after speaking to the women.

A member of the public alerted police to something in the water on Thursday afternoon.

Police are treating the death as suspicious and are yet to identify the man or determine how he died.

He's thought to be between 40 and 60 years of age.

A search along the river near the University of Adelaide footbridge was conducted after the discovery and officers and State Emergency Service volunteers returned to the area on Friday.

A post mortem is also being conducted.

Police have asked for anyone who may have visited the area in the past week and who took any photos while there to come forward as their pictures might help with the investigation.
