Adelaide man stabbed, second man arrested

A three-hour siege has ended when the man suspected of stabbing another man several times jumped off the roof of an Adelaide home.

A man in his 40s is in a stable condition after going emergency surgery at Royal Adelaide Hospital following the incident at the Smithfield Plains home around 8.30pm on Wednesday.

A 26-year-old man, who is known to the victim, climbed onto the house's roof before police arrived.

Police, including specialist STAR group officers, cordoned off the area and began negotiations with the man.

About 1.30am on Thursday, police say he jumped off the roof and was apprehended.

He's been taken to Lyell McEwin Hospital for medical treatment.

He's expected to be charged with attempted murder later on Thursday.
