SA relief teacher charged over child porn

A 54-year-old Adelaide man charged with possessing child pornography has been identified as a relief teacher.

The eduction department says the man's authority to teach has been revoked and he will be prevented from working with children in accordance with his bail conditions.

"Schools where the man worked will inform parents by letter of his arrest," the department said in a statement on Wednesday.

"A notice of investigation will also be shared with the independent and Catholic school sectors."

The man was arrested on Tuesday after an investigation by the recently established Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team involving state and federal police.

He has been bailed to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on July 17.
