Up to four people, including a four-year-old girl, have suffered burns after an LP gas cylinder exploded at a school in South Australia's Barossa Valley.

The Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) was called to the Lutheran primary school at Tanunda just before 9am on Monday.

"It's believed that gas from an LP gas cylinder came into contact with an ignition source and exploded, causing burns to up to four people," she said.
