Royal National Park hits peak capacity at 10am on Australia Day scorcher
The Royal National Park (RNP) south of Sydney has reached full capacity before 10am on Australia Day, with authorities only allowing passing traffic to enter.
Alerting the public via Twitter, the Royal National Park said it will only allow "through traffic" as families flock to the park's beaches to cool off.
An hour ago the beaches of Wattamolla, Garie and Bonni Vale closed to vehicle access after they reached full capacity numbers.

The RNP is a popular summer destination, traditionally open from 7am to 8.30pm, only closing at times due to poor weather of fire danger.
Entry to the park costs $12 per vehicle per day, with seasonal tickets available for some beaches.
Today temperatures are expected to peak at around 36 degrees Celsius, marking the peak of the first heatwave of 2021.

Sydney is on track to record its hottest spell in a decade amid a severe heatwave forecast to reach its peak today.
The city is tipped to break the longstanding record with a five day-average of 33C after a long weekend of scorching temperatures.
