Man found dead after falling from inflatable kayak on Mornington Peninsula

A kayaker has been found dead after a search on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

Witnesses told police the man got into difficulty about 300 to 800 metres offshore from Rosebud Pier just after 3.30pm.

He was on an inflatable kayak but was seen to fall into the water.

Police were called to the area and a search began but he was found dead about 5.30pm.

A report will be made for the coroner.
