Rocklea truck rollover: Roads shut down after chip bark dumped on road

Powered by

Several tonnes of woodchip have been dumped on a Queensland road after a truck rollover just off the Ipswich Highway.

The tipper truck accident happened at Rocklea at about 5am, shutting down a number of lanes and causing heavy traffic in the area.

Witnesses managed to pull the driver out of the cab of his truck, with paramedics confirming he has been taken to Princess Alexander Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police believe it will take some time for cleaners to remove the woodchip and urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Today is a public holiday in Queensland for the Ekka, meaning traffic is expected to be lighter than usual.
