Boy dies, dad fighting for life after e-bike struck by car on Gold Coast

A nine-year-old boy has died and his father is fighting for life after the e-bike they were riding collided with a Honda Odyssey on the Gold Coast yesterday.

Emergency services were called to reports of the crash on Robina Town Centre Drive, near Bayberry Lane, in Robina about 6.15pm.

Paramedics rushed the 46-year-old and his son, who had been riding with him, to Gold Coast University Hospital, both in a critical condition.

His father remained tonight in a critical condition.

The driver of the car, a 47-year-old man, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for assessment.

An investigation has been launched and any witnesses - particularly anyone with relevant vision - are urged to contact police.
