Rex launches new Adelaide-Perth flights in move set to bring down prices

Regional airline Rex has announced the launch of a new route from Adelaide to Perth.

The budget-friendly flights aim to disrupt the traditionally expensive route, intensifying competition with larger airlines.

It follows Rex's successful introduction of flights from Adelaide to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Passengers arriving in Adelaide from Sydney today praised the airline's service, reliability and affordability.

"I've had a few delays, but not with Rex," said passenger Shantera Zeneli. 

"Hand over heart, I haven't ever had a delay with them."

The new service to Perth will operate three days a week from June 28, utilising Embraer E190 aircraft operated by Rex's subsidiary, National Jet Express. 

Introductory fares will be as low as $249, which will include checked baggage and onboard refreshments.

South Australian Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison welcomed the new service, and the state government is hoping it will bring in more visitors from Western Australia, especially with its launch coinciding with the start of the WA school holidays.
