Reviews of tax office draw clean sheet

A series of both internal and external reviews of the Australian Taxation Office, launched after its deputy tax commissioner was caught up in a fraud case, has so far found "no significant systemic issues".

"Of course, there are going to be a few suggestions for improvements, which you would expect when so many people are looking at these processors across these multiple reviews," tax commissioner Chris Jordan told a Senate hearing on Wednesday.

Earlier this year Michael Cranston was caught up in a tax-evasion racket involving his son and he subsequently resigned.
