Resort residents under threat from man armed with gas bottle

A man has been arrested after making threats with a gas bottle at a Marcoola resort today.

Police declared an emergency situation at about 1pm AEST after a 60-year-old man holed himself up on his own in a unit on David Low Way.

Residents of the resort fled and a 400m exclusion zone was put in place.

Police negotiators managed to convince the man to back down just before 3pm AEST and he was taken to the Nambour Hospital.

Nobody was injured during the incident, however police investigations are continuing.
