Three teens accused of leading police on a wild chase through Brisbane

Three teenagers are accused of leading police on a wild chase through Brisbane streets.

Their two allegedly stolen vehicles wove through traffic on the Bruce Highway before they tried to escape officers by gatecrashing a birthday party.

A Morayfield, Moreton Bay street was the scene of a major pursuit that began on the Bruce Highway.

Officers chased down a stolen white Toyota Landcruiser with the driver believed to be just 14.

Several cars were caught in the crossfire of the reckless joyride.

The car came to a stop on Laver Street, with what witnesses said was a big log stuck underneath.

The group is then accused of ditching the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

Locals were told to stay inside.

"We just heard the Polair and then cops started showing up everywhere and then they had dog squad come and cops surrounded the entrances to the park across the road," Melissa said.

The teens scrambled over fences with Polair and the dog squad hot on their heels.

Two of them even gatecrashed a 30th birthday.

"[I was] just relaxing with my family and friends and then next minute we had some people jump the fence," Kirsty Rider said.

But the trio could not escape.

The final takedown happened in Phil Gibson's backyard.

"Before I realised, there's a person saying get on the ground, get on the ground, with two or three police on top," he said.

Residents on Emerson Drive watched as their street was swarmed with officers.

When police finally caught up the street broke out in applause.

No charges have been laid.

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli dodged questions about his targets for reducing numbers of youth crime victims, the metric he has promised to stake his leadership on.

He refused to provide any numeric goals, while announcing an intensive early intervention program.
