Attempted murder charge after Ipswich man 'followed into home, stabbed multiple times'

A Queensland man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly following another man into his home and stabbing him multiple times in the abdomen, chest and left arm.

Police will allege a 42-year-old Ipswich man followed the man from a residential gathering at Margate, near Brisbane, to a nearby address on Tuesday night.

It was there the man allegedly stabbed the other man, a 30-year-old from Rothwell.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the Rothwell man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with serious injuries.

Police allege that prior to the stabbing, a violent altercation between a small group of people, all known to each other, took place at the Margate address.

The man has been charged with one count of attempted murder.

He was denied police bail and is due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.
