Police tried stun guns before shooting man who broke into station 'armed with knife'
Officers at first used stun guns against a man who broke into a north Queensland police station allegedly armed with a knife, before shooting him when he didn't stop.
The 35-year-old man allegedly broke through two doors at the rear of the Bowen Police Station about 2.30pm yesterday armed with a knife and chains.
Eight officers were inside at the time.

They initially used stun guns to stop him but when that didn't work, two officers fired shots.
The man was taken to Bowen Hospital, and later Townsville Hospital, with gunshot wounds to his hand and abdomen.
He remains in a serious but stable condition.
The entire incident was captured on bodycam which will form part of the investigation by the Ethical Standards Command.
