Queensland police chase: Men accused of reckless driving during pursuit

Two Queensland men accused of reaching reckless speeds in a futile attempt to outrun police had the audacity to switch drivers mid-chase.

Officers spotted a stolen car this morning and the police helicopter was called in to track it as it travelled through Caboolture, north of Brisbane.

Police allege the car reached speeds of up to 140km/h, sometimes on the wrong side of the road, with the two men changing seats and taking turns at driving during their escape bid.

Road spikes were used to stop the car, with one of the drivers losing control at Wamuran, west of Caboolture, about 11am, but the drama didn't end there.

It's further alleged the two men and their female passenger ran from police, with one of the men attempting to steal two vehicles from a nearby petrol station.

Police managed to stop the man from getting back on the road, but he ran off, with officers chasing him down and arresting him.

The other man was arrested after fleeing into bushland and police also found the woman nearby.

The men, both 21, are due to face the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Thursday on charges including burglary, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and driving while disqualified.

The woman, 24, has been issued with a notice to front the same court on July 12 on a charge of unlawful use of a vehicle.
