Two killed in separate Qld crashes

Two people have been killed in separate car crashes in Queensland.

In the first incident, police say a 24-year-old man was killed on Saturday night when his car collided with a ute on the Peak Downs Highway near Moranbah, west of Mackay.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 48-year-old male driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In the second incident, a 38-year-old woman died at the scene in Brisbane east after her car left the road and crashed into a tree.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the accident which occurred at Tingalpa just after midnight on Sunday.
