Two injured as truck hits two cars in Qld

Two people have been seriously injured when a truck struck two vehicles that had pulled over to change a flat tyre on a major highway in southern Queensland.

Police say a 17-year-old man had stopped on the shoulder of the Cunningham Highway at the border town of Goondiwindi on Sunday around 11.45pm (AEST) to change a flat tyre on his ute.

A couple and two teenagers travelling in another car pulled over to help him when a truck struck both vehicles.

The driver of the ute and a 39-year-old woman from the second car were flown to a Brisbane hospital with serious injuries.

A 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were taken to the Goondiwindi Hospital for observation.

Police say they were discharged a short time later.

The male driver of the second vehicle and the truck driver were not injured.
