Two charged over funny money

A man and woman have been charged with counterfeiting after shops in Brisbane's Moreton Bay area received fake $50 notes.

Police searched an address at Woody Point on Tuesday, where they found counterfeit notes as well as printing equipment.

A 34-year-old Woody Point man has been charged with five counterfeit related charges and will appear at the Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.

A 19-year-old Deception Bay woman faces similar charges and will appear at the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on May 11.

Police are asking local businesses to be vigilant when taking notes over the counter.

It's not known whether the charged pair were the ones who used the notes.

Investigations are continuing.
