Torres Strait man injured in balcony fall

A man has suffered serious spinal injuries after falling off a balcony on Darnley Island in the Torres Strait.
Emergency crews were called to a Margua Road home about 9.45am on Saturday after receiving reports a man had fallen about five metres from a balcony.
They arrived to find the 28-year-old with serious head and spinal injuries.

He was flown to the Thursday Island hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Detectives are speaking with witnesses as investigations into the cause of the incident continue.
