Teens charged over alleged theft of 9News weather presenter's car

Three teenagers have been charged after allegedly stealing a car belonging to 9News weather presenter Luke Bradnam while he was on air.

The beach and surf expert had his ute stolen from Cavill Avenue at Surfers Paradise as he was finishing reading the weather on 9News Gold Coast last night.

"I'm taking off my ear piece and I can see my car being reversed up," he said.

After realising what was happening, Luke pulled out his mobile phone and filmed as he tried to stop the driver.

The person behind the wheel ploughed through a bollard as Luke gave chase.

The weather presenter's car was allegedly stolen as he worked. 9News

"He could have run me over ... I could be dead now," he said.

"When he was reversing up, I went 'what am I doing? It's just a car'."

Three teenagers, aged 14, 15 and 17, were arrested in the area later that evening.

They have been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.

One of them was allegedly carrying Luke's bank cards and driver's licence.

His car is still outstanding and anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
