Suicide rising among young Qlders

THE LEADING CAUSES OF DEATH AMONG YOUNG QUEENSLANDERS IN 2015:

- 309 diseases and other morbid conditions

- 28 suicides

- 25 transport accidents

- 16 drownings

- 15 fatal assaults and neglect

- 7 other non-intentional injury-related

INDIGENOUS YOUNG PEOPLE:

- 2.3 times likelier to die than non-indigenous youth

- Three times more likely to commit suicide

- At least one and a half times more likely to die from diseases or morbid conditions

- Indigenous infants almost four times as likely to die sudden unexpected deaths
