Springborg to head first committee meeting
Lawrence Springborg's move from opposition leader to backbencher will be complete as he takes on his new role as the head of a parliamentary committee.
The Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee will meet on Wednesday morning ahead of parliament sitting in the afternoon.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Tuesday supported the opposition's nomination to have Mr Springborg chair the committee after he was last week dumped as the state's Liberal National Party leader.
Mr Springborg told his successor Tim Nicholls he'd prefer to chair the committee over a position in the shadow cabinet.
The powerful PCCC oversees the state's corruption watchdog, the Crime and Corruption Commission.
Meanwhile, parliament is on Wednesday expected to debate changes to child protection legislation and new laws aimed at shutting down puppy farms.
