Sneaky sleeper earns night in watch house

Breaking and entering is tiring work.

Just ask the man who was found sound asleep on a couch in an inner-Brisbane home early on Sunday morning.

Police say the New Farm residents woke to a noise coming from the lounge room and when they went to investigate, found a stranger taking a nap on their couch.

Without waking him, they called police.

"They arrived soon after and were able to transport the male person to a much less comfortable bed at the watch house," police said in a statement.

A spokesman said it appeared the 48-year-old man didn't intend to steal anything, but rather broke into the wrong house after what was presumably a large night out on the town.

The sneaky sleep will see the man face a trespassing charge when he appears in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 24.
