Siege accused made kill threat: court

A man accused of sparking a nine-hour siege at a inner-Brisbane unit has claimed in court that his drink had been spiked with ice at the time.

Colin Wayne Blair, 44, had threatened to kill the manager of the complex, the court heard.

He was refused bail when he faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday charged over the lengthy stand-off.

Blair allegedly made a threatening phone call to police on Thursday night and claimed to have a hostage and weapons, prompting officers to close streets near the unit at Jeays Street, Bowen Hills.

However, there were no weapons involved and the hostage turned out to be one of Blair's friends.

The court heard he was already on bail at the time of the siege after allegedly threatening violence against other tenants in the complex.

Magistrate Linda Bradford-Morgan remanded Blair in custody, saying he was an unacceptable risk.

"The issue is you were on bail and there have been these further incidents, including very serious allegations you had threatened kill the manager of your unit complex," she said.

Blair, who represented himself in court, said he had his drink spiked with ice at the time and didn't intend to hurt anyone.

"I was given a drink with ice in it," he said.

"Ice is a very bad drug."

Blair is due to reappear in court on October 9.
