Scammers target flood victims: Qld police
AAP
Scammers pretending to be Queensland government employees are trying to obtain flood-affected residents' bank details with the promise of hardship assistance, police warn.
Police say the scammers claim to be from the Department of Communities, and ask for personal information so they can dole out thousands of dollars in flood relief funds.
Police said residents who receive a call should not provide details without independently verifying the legitimacy of the caller.
