Rangers catch croc that bit golfer

Wildlife officers have caught a crocodile believed to have bitten a golfer in far north Queensland.

The juvenile croc clamped down on local John Lahiff, in his 70s, after he went to retrieve his ball on the 11th hole of the Palmer Sea Reef golf course, owned by federal MP Clive Palmer.

Mr Lahiff was treated for lacerations to his lower leg on Monday.

A Department of Environment and Heritage Protection spokeswoman confirmed on Wednesday morning that the croc had been caught overnight.

She said it was in a holding facility and would likely be transferred to a reptile farm.
