Worker dies in hospital after getting trapped in machinery in Queensland

A worker has died in hospital after he critical head injuries when he became trapped in machinery in central Queensland.

Emergency services were called to Knight Street in Park Avenue in the Rockhampton region about 11.50am yesterday over reports of a workplace incident.

Firefighters vertically lifted the 68-year-old Yeppoon man from the machinery about 40 minutes later.

The man was rushed to Rockhampton Hospital with critical head injuries.

He has since died, police confirmed today.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner and assist Workplace Health and Safety (WHSQ) with their investigations.

"WHSQ responded quickly and was onsite making enquiries alongside Queensland Police shortly after being notified," a WHSQ spokesperson said.

"As this is now a current WHSQ investigation no further information can be provided at this time."
