Victorian man tried to get work in northern Queensland before he vanished

Inquires are being made to local businesses in northern Queensland around the area a Victorian man went missing a week ago.

Milan Lemic, 25, went missing on Sunday after bogging his ute in the crocodile-infested Daintree rainforest.

Mr Lemic was last seen by a person who offered to get a tractor to help free his vehicle, but when the good Samaritan returned 20 minutes later, Mr Lemic was gone.

Police are now talking to local businesses after it emerged Mr Lemic was particularly focused on obtaining casual work in the area prior to his disappearance.

His parents have visited from Melbourne to speak with Daintree area residents who had contact with their son.

Extensive patrols using drone technology and SES resources will continue over the weekend, police say.

Meanwhile, another photograph of Mr Lemic has been released, renewing the appeal for help to find him.

An initial thought that Mr Lemic had been taken by a crocodile was ruled out by police.

Residents are urged to check their properties and anyone who has picked up a hitch-hiker in the last week is being asked to contact police.
