Queensland floods: Wounded dog’s incredible rescue

Tyson might be the luckiest dog in Queensland.

At the height of the North Queensland floods, the young Boxer was attacked by two other dogs in his Macknade backyard, leaving his jaw and face severely wounded.

Cut off completely from the rest of the world by water, his owner Annette Burns was forced to bandage and treat Tyson herself, but his chances of survival were fading fast.

But in one of the most incredible displays of community spirit, Tyson was transported via three boat trips, and three four-wheel drive trips, as residents across four different towns banded together to get him through the floodwaters, to a waiting vet in Ingham.

After six hours of surgery, the luck pooch was mended up, and finally reunited with his owner yesterday after the roads reopened.

Mrs Burns said he’s a little worse for wear, but "very pleased" to back with his family.
