Qld wants to hear about lemon cars

The Queensland government wants to hear from consumers who've bought dud new cars as part of a push for national "lemon" laws.

Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath, who raised the issue at a meeting of consumer affairs ministers in Melbourne last week, is urging Queenslanders to share their stories at www.qld.gov.au/lemonlaws.

She says lemon laws would make it easier for consumers to have their cars replaced "either by setting limits on the number of faults, or the amount of time a new car spends off the road before it is automatically considered a lemon."
