Qld police to get extra terrorism training

Queensland police officers will begin extra training to deal with armed offenders, including terrorists, next year.

The training could be used to deal with incidents similar to the Paris attacks, however the plans were made ahead of the devastating French shootings, Police Commissioner Ian Stewart said.

"The issue is for our people to be able to identify that there is no point in waiting to try and negotiate when lives are being lost right at the time when the police respond," Mr Stewart said.
