Qld police accused of lack of disclosure

Queensland police whistleblower Rick Flori has accused the service of withholding documents in his pursuit of damages for alleged bullying.

The Gold Coast sergeant quit before being acquitted by a jury this year of misconduct after leaking footage of police bashing a handcuffed man in a police station basement in 2012.

He is suing the state government and eight police officers, including Ethical Standards Command officer David Winter, in proceedings before the Queensland Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Mr Flori has alleged repeated reprisals against him during his term of service but claims he has not been provided the documentation needed to back up his accusations.

"The bits of disclosure they're not providing may actually implicate others," he told reporters outside the court.

"That's probably what they're more in fear of, I'm guessing, that others may be included in this action."

Mr Flori has applied for a lawyer at the urging of Justice Debra Mullins.

His case will return to court in September.

Mr Flori was acquitted in February after a trial during which prosecutors alleged he leaked the footage as part of a vendetta against Senior Sergeant David Joachim, an officer involved in the arrest who was also promoted ahead of him.

Mr Winter had initially recommended disciplinary action against Mr Flori but later launched a criminal prosecution.
