Journalists have effectively been banned from Queensland's parliament during the G20 forum in Brisbane.

Speaker Fiona Simpson has reviewed security arrangements at Parliament House in the lead up to the international forum next week.

Ms Simpson says pass holder access will only be allowed to MPs, their spouses and essential parliamentary staff from November 13-16.

The move effectively bans media from the premises, including those based in the press gallery.

"Please note that in a dynamic security environment expected of next week, further changes to security may be required with little notice, based on information which comes to hand," Ms Simpson said in a statement on Thursday.

Parliament isn't scheduled to sit over the G20 week.
