Qld not satisfied with $520m GST win

Acting Queensland Premier Jackie Trad has welcomed a $520 million boost in GST revenue, but says it restores only a fraction of funding the federal government has already cut to the state.

Queensland was the main beneficiary of the Commonwealth Grants Commission's new carve up of the GST revenue pie, with the state expected to raise an additional $520 million because of its reduced capacity to raise coal royalties and the state's historically high natural-disaster expenses.

"But I think we need to be really clear that all of the cuts that were identified in Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey's first budget are still on the table," Ms Trad told ABC Radio on Friday.

"We are looking at billions of dollars being ripped out of education and this money won't go anywhere near to filling that hole."
