Two mums die at Qld homes within days

One was a mother-of-six regarded by those in her small community as a "nice, bubbly" woman.

The other was a wife and mother raising four young children in suburbia who was busy planning a trip home to New Zealand.

Both had their lives cut short when they were allegedly stabbed to death in domestic violence incidents days apart in southeast Queensland.

Michelle Reynolds, 46, was found dead in a bedroom of her house at Rosewood, near Ipswich, early on Monday morning.

Her partner, 47-year-old Wayne Ashley O'Sullivan, has been charged with murder and had his case briefly mentioned in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Ipswich Councillor David Pahlke said the small community of Rosewood was in shock following the death of the mother-of-six, who was relatively new to town.

"It's a typical country town so when something like this happens it blows everyone away," he told AAP.

"Even my son who works at IGA, he served her. She was a nice lady.

"She made a very good impression on the town."

Neighbour Shirley Stubbs also said Ms Reynolds was well-regarded in the community.

"She was a lovely, bubbly person, really nice," she told reporters.

The discovery of Ms Reynolds' body came four days after Sandra Peniamina suffered multiple stab wounds and died on the driveway of her suburban home at Kippa-Ring, near Redcliffe.

The 29-year-old New Zealand citizen's children, aged between five and 10, were believed to be sleeping in the home when the alleged stabbing occurred on Thursday night.

Her 35-year-old husband Arona, also a New Zealand citizen, was charged with murder at a bedside hearing at Redcliffe Hospital on Friday before undergoing surgery for hand injuries.

Ms Peniamina's death deeply shocked her relatives and friends.

"Broken Hearted! Cant (sic) believe that any of my family will go out the way she did. Feel for my nephews, aunty and cuzzyz (sic)," one wrote on Facebook.

She been planning a trip home to New Zealand to visit her sick mum but will now be laid to rest in Auckland, according to reports.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk drew on the incident to make a public appeal at Friday's COAG meeting in Canberra for more to be done to stop domestic violence.

"This has got to stop," she said.

"Women are still getting murdered and killed behind closed doors in all different sections of our community and we've got to do more."

The Domestic Violence Death Review Action Group is planning a Red Rose rally for both Ms Peniamina and Ms Reynolds in Brisbane's CBD on Thursday.

O'Sullivan's case will next be mentioned in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 4.

Peniamina is due to face Redcliffe Magistrates Court via videolink on April 18.
