Qld man nabbed for making submachine guns

A man accused of making submachine guns in the backyard of his rural Queensland home has been charged with a string of weapons offences.

Police raided a Toowoomba property and allegedly found a submachine gun, weapons components and tools to manufacture guns, police say.

Weapon manufacturing instructions, drawings, templates, along with a quantity of methylamphetamine and smoking utensils were also discovered.

In addition to the firearms charges the 52-year-old man is accused of possessing drugs, drug paraphernalia and tainted property.

He will reappear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on March 7 after being granted bail on Friday.
