Qld man charged over 1991 bank robbery

A man has been charged with the armed robbery of a Queensland bank more than 25 years ago.

Police say the man, now aged 54, robbed the bank in Sandgate in December 1991 while brandishing a gun and wearing a balaclava.

It is also alleged he fled in a stolen vehicle.

Police say they were able to charge the man more than two decades later thanks to "modern investigative techniques".

However, a spokeswoman could not comment on what evidence had led the arrest.

The man will face Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday.
