Qld man 'bit police' during intercept

A Gold Coast man whose car allegedly contained a stash of drugs and cash bit an officer during his bungled escape attempt, police say.

The 25-year-old was pulled over on Hinkler Drive at Nerang early on Saturday morning, but police say he attempted to flee.

The man then refused to leave his car and is accused of biting a male officer on the hand and injuring another during the subsequent struggle.

His car allegedly contained a large quantity for drugs and cash.

The two officers were treated at the scene.

The Ormeau man will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday where he will face almost a dozen charges, including seriously assaulting police and possessing dangerous drugs.
