Qld cyclone bill tipped to be $1.5 billion

Queensland authorities are still working to determine the damage bill left by Cyclone Debbie, but it's expected to be in the order of $1.5 billion.

Queensland Treasurer Curtis Pitt says the best estimate so far has it on par with Cyclone Oswald, which left the state will a bill of that scale in 2013.

Mr Pitt has told the ABC that a $1.5 billion bill would leave Queensland with a net cost of about $500 million, after Commonwealth natural disaster relief payments are taken into account.
