Qld crocs find new home in Turkish zoo

Two Queensland saltwater crocodiles have found a new home and added some stamps to their passports along the way.

Rob and Mrs Rob from the Koorana Crocodile Farm in Rockhampton were last month trucked down to Brisbane and flown via Singapore to Turkey's new Underwater Zoo.

The pair, both aged 50, were sedated and travelled in separate bespoke crates with climate control and safety measures to ensure a comfortable ride for them and their accompanying carers.

Australia's Department of Agriculture head of veterinary services delivery Dennis Way said exporting the five metre and three metre crocs was no mean feat but the team "snapped to it".

"Our staff worked with their Turkish counterparts to ensure they were satisfied the crocs met their importing requirements," Mr Way said.
