'Fake' nurse case adjourned in Queensland

A Queensland court has adjourned the case of a man accused of pretending to be a nurse in two states.

Nicholas William Crawford faces more than 110 charges in Queensland after he allegedly used fake documents to get a job at a clinic in Aurukun, in Cape York, earlier this year.

The 30-year-old had been given bail and ordered to stay at his mother's home in Victoria but was last week ordered back into custody after being found on a remote stretch of highway between Alice Springs and Katherine.

It is alleged he treated more than 160 people at Aurukun, where he is accused of administering drugs and cleaning wounds.

The Cairns Magistrate Court on Wednesday adjourned the police charges until September 30.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency has also brought three charges against Mr Crawford in Queensland and 15 in Western Australia.

In the Northern Territory, police have launched an investigation into claims he worked five shifts as an agency nurse in June 2014.
