Qld councillor admits scamming employer

A sacked Queensland councillor has pleaded guilty to siphoning more than $180,000 from an engineering company she worked for.

Former Logan City councillor Stacey Lee McIntosh appeared in Brisbane District Court on Wednesday where she was convicted of three counts of fraud.

McIntosh dishonestly transferred money belonging to Brisbane business Fortuna Engineering Works into her own bank accounts over two years from mid-2014.

She will be sentenced in December.

The former Division 6 councillor agreed to stand down from her civic duties after being charged in 2016.

She was formally suspended in May 2018 under new state laws to stand down allegedly corrupt elected officials.

She was expected to fight the allegations at a month-long trial starting this week but the matter was adjourned for her to enter a guilty plea.

McIntosh remains on bail but faces a maximum 14 years in jail.

The Queensland government sacked the rest of the Logan City councillors in May after an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
