Qld cop stood down over 'excessive force'

A Queensland police officer has been stood down from duty amid an internal investigation for excessive use of force.

The 29-year-old male constable from the state's northern region allegedly used excessive force on a suspect in police custody, a spokesman said on Friday.

The officer was found not guilty of assault in relation to the same matter in the Cairns Magistrate's Court.
