Qld campsites reopen after landslide event

Christmas holidaymakers will be able to camp at a popular Queensland peninsula where a caravan, car, trailer and tents disappeared in a landslide more than two months ago.

About 300 campers were evacuated from Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach on September 26 after the "near shore landslide event", which was initially described as a sinkhole.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service has reopened campsites in the Inskip Peninsula recreation area but it has established a no camping buffer zone and a no drive zone along sections of beach in high-risk areas after considering an engineer's report.
