Man dies in Brisbane unit fire

A man has died in a house fire south of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the unit on Allora St in Waterford West after the blaze tore through the apartment on Monday morning.

A body, believed to be that of a 65-year-old man, was found inside the property.

Police have declared a crime scene, while fire investigators are on site trying to determine the cause of the fire.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman told AAP the unit suffered "significant structural damage and partial collapse" but crews managed to contain the blaze.
