Cyclist hit-run takes national toll to 30

A man has died while riding a bike in Darwin, being struck by a car which then drove off.

The 46-year-old was hit by a blue Toyota Aurion on Winnellie Road in Winnellie about 10pm on Saturday.

His death is the first road fatality in the Northern Territory during the holiday period and police are searching for the driver.

The man's death takes the national holiday road toll to 30.

Among those killed is a 64-year-old woman hit by a car in White Rock, Queensland, in the early hours of Sunday, police said.

She was allegedly in an argument with a man before he got into a car which hit her as he drove away.

A Sydney toddler was run over in a Sydney driveway on Saturday evening, with a 23-year-old man taken to Nepean Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

A seven-month-old baby in a pram died in Queensland on Friday when he was hit by a car driven by his mother which was reversing on St Pauls Drive, Woodridge.

It's unlikely the boy's mother will be charged over the accident.

Victoria has recorded nine road deaths since the holiday toll period began on December 23.

NSW has recorded eight deaths, Queensland has recorded five deaths, South Australia four, while Western Australia has recorded three.

Tasmania and the ACT remain fatality free.
