Monsour to contest Moreton for LNP

Former Queensland premier Campbell Newman's brother-in-law will contest the next federal election in the Brisbane seat of Moreton.

Nic Monsour has been pre-selected by the Liberal National Party to take on incumbent Labor MP Graham Perrett in next year's election.

Mr Perrett has held the seat in the southern Brisbane suburbs since overcoming Gary Hardgrave in 2007 when Kevin Rudd swept to power.

Mr Monsour is the brother of Mr Newman's wife Lisa and previously missed out on the LNP's vacant Senate spot earlier this year.
