Young boy hospitalised after plummeting 10 metres when rope swing snapped

A 12-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries after falling 10 metres when a rope swing snapped in Queensland.

The boy was swinging on a makeshift swing near Riverbreeze Crescent in Maudsland around 1.30pm when he fell 10 metres down a creek embankment onto rocks.

"He was here with friends down at the creek swinging from a rope," Queensland Police's Brendan Wiblen said.

The boy suffered pelvic and wrist injuries and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police have pulled down the swing from the popular site.
