Man stabbed at Brisbane jewellers

A man has been stabbed in the chest multiple times at a Brisbane jewellery store.

Emergency services were called to KL Jewellers on Wickham Street, Fortitude Valley, about 4.15pm on Friday.

Paramedics treated a man, believed to be aged in his 60s, who had suffered stab wounds to his chest, face and neck, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.

He was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition.

The man is reportedly the owner of the store, although police are uncertain whether a robbery has taken place.

Detectives were having difficulty negotiating a language barrier, a police spokesman said.

One lane of Wickham Street remains closed and police have established a crime scene.

Neighbouring restaurant staff heard a fight coming from the store and called police, Channel Ten reported.
