Man in hospital after mum murder charge
A Queensland man is recovering in hospital from self-inflicted injuries after facing a bedside hearing over the alleged murder of his elderly mother.
The body of Gary Giles' 75-year-old mother was found inside her Mango Hill home on Thursday afternoon after police responded to a triple-zero call.
Police suspect she could have been dead for a day before the grisly discovery.
Giles was also found at the scene with serious injuries, which police allege he inflicted on himself.
On Friday morning, police charged the Rothwell man with murder and he faced a bedside hearing at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
His matter has been adjourned until August 27 for a mention in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
His mother's home remains a crime scene while police have also spent time inspecting Giles' own home.
